In this hands-on 2-week course, you'll unlock the secrets of cultivating fresh, healthy food right in your own home. Using our Mi Oh My Farms Grow Kits, we’ll guide you through every step to set up a hydroponics system and grow your own microgreens and mushrooms—no matter your experience or budget.

WEEK 1: MASTERING MIGROGREENS
What You’ll Learn:
The lifecycle and cultivation schedule of microgreens in general and for specific varieties + growing environment.
Hands on:
Seed a grow kit to take home, observe the lifecycle and harvestTaste:
Different varieties and learn about their applications in different preparations and dishes. -
Session #2
Week 2: Mastering Mushrooms
What You’ll Learn:
About the lifecycle and cultivation schedule of mushrooms in general and for specific varieties like oyster mushrooms + how to fruit mushrooms with high yield using the North Spore Boom Room fruiting tent.
Hands on:
Make your own oyster mushroom substrate with recycled materials, take a mushroom grow kit home, observe the life cycle, fruit mushrooms, and harvest.
Meet your instructors
Marc de Konkoly Thege
Marc is a founding member of Mi Oh My Farms, serving as its Education Steward and formerly as the first Farm Director. He is the primary author of Mi Oh My’s workshop curriculum, drawing from over eight years of experience as an urban farmer, applied mycologist, and urban agriculture systems designer. Marc has also worked in the community health and renewable energy industries.
A native New Yorker and Bronx resident since 2016, Marc is passionate about building community around food and fostering economic sovereignty. When not working on Mi Oh My Farms, you can find him biking, crate-digging for vinyl, creating art, or tending fires for sweat lodge prayers.
Alex Elias
Alex (MPA) is an educator and Teaching Farmer with 6 years of teaching experience and 2 years experience in Urban Agriculture. He is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Rwanda) and Fulbright Scholar (Brazil), in addition to being a 6th generation New Yorker by way of Atlanta, Georgia and Sacramento, California.
When he's not working, Alex is probably passing the time with his wife Pria and their extended family. Pria and Alex both plan to run the NYC marathon in 2025 and are fans of The Sopranos and Hey Arnold.
