Back to School with Mi Oh My Farms: Our 2026–2027 Curriculum Guide Is Here!
A new school year is here—and we’re excited to get back into classrooms, gardens, greenhouses, and hands-on learning!
For the 2026–2027 school year, Mi Oh My Farms is expanding our K–12 education programs with new opportunities for students to explore S.T.E.A.M., food systems, ecology, nutrition, and regenerative agriculture in Spanish through hands-on, project-based learning.
We’ve put it all together in our new 2026–2027 Curriculum Program Guide, designed to help schools find the right workshops and experiences for their students.
Hands-On S.T.E.A.M. Learning Through Food & Farming
Our Teaching Farmers bring real-world agriculture into the classroom through engaging workshops that connect science and engineering with the food we eat and the ecosystems that sustain us.
Students don't just learn about these concepts—they grow, build, observe, experiment, harvest, and problem-solve.
Our K–12 workshops include:
Anneli, Spanish Language Teaching Farmer
Indoor Mushroom Cultivation
Students explore the fascinating world of fungi while learning how mushrooms grow using upcycled materials. Along the way, they investigate mycelium, decomposition, nutrient cycles, and the important role fungi play in healthy ecosystems.
Growing Microgreens
Students learn about plant biology by growing their own microgreens and observing the process from seed to harvest. The workshop introduces concepts including seeds, roots, light, water, nutrients, plant development, and nutrition.
Regenerative Aquaponics & Farming
Students discover how fish, plants, microorganisms, and water work together in a regenerative aquaponics system. They explore the nitrogen cycle, closed-loop systems, water conservation, and how natural ecosystems can inspire more sustainable ways of growing food.
Our workshops are available as single-session experiences or multi-session project-based learning programs, allowing schools to choose an experience that fits their classroom and curriculum goals.
NEW: S.T.E.A.M. Workshops en Espańol
One of the exciting additions to our 2026–2027 program is the availability of our S.T.E.A.M. workshops in Spanish.
We’re proud to offer Spanish-language workshops for:
Spanish immersion programs
Bilingual programs
Dual-language classrooms
ESL and multilingual learner programs
Schools looking for more culturally and linguistically responsive S.T.E.A.M. education
Our workshops give students the opportunity to engage with complex S.T.E.A.M. concepts in a language that supports their learning and participation. Through hands-on activities, observation, discussion, and collaborative problem-solving, students can build both academic vocabulary and practical skills.
Whether students are cultivating mushrooms, growing microgreens, or exploring the interconnected systems of regenerative aquaponics, the classroom becomes a living laboratory.
Learning That Connects to the Real World
We believe some of the best learning happens when students can see—and touch—the connections between what they learn in school and the world around them.
A mushroom-growing project becomes a lesson in biology and decomposition.
A tray of microgreens becomes an exploration of plant science, nutrition, and food access.
An aquaponics system becomes a living model of ecosystems, the nitrogen cycle, engineering, and resource conservation.
And growing food together creates opportunities for students to practice collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Our goal is to help students develop a deeper understanding of where food comes from, how natural systems work, and how they can participate in creating healthier and more sustainable communities.
Bringing the Farm Into NYC Classrooms
Mi Oh My Farms works with schools across all five NYC boroughs, bringing hands-on urban agriculture education directly to students. Our partner schools have used our workshops to explore science, sustainability, nutrition, food systems, and healthy eating through memorable, project-based experiences.
We’re especially excited about expanding access to these experiences for Spanish-speaking students and multilingual learners this year.
